To
Database or not to Database?
by Joseph DelgadoMy Web Site Provider offers databases over
Access and SQL Server. Access is free but limited and SQL Server costs too
much money at this time. So maybe something can be done to help move this
site forward and improve it's use.
I don't want to move all the pages here from a static page to an Access
database format, I think that'll put a lot of strain on the database, even
though it's a low number of users. I would like a search engine where you
can see sites from a particular period, sites that are linked to a
keyword, or just everything that's new in the whole website by section.
Using a database will come in heavily with the shareware reviews
section. A majority of my rating comes from the shareware sites search
capabilities and after a while the review section will get pretty big, so
I'll need something rudimentary just to get started.
I keep having to increase the scale of the graph to the left and that's
a very good thing. It's gone from 80 to 100 to 120. Now is the time to
make improvements and expand sites so we can push the scale even farther
next month!
