Kali's an Internet client that lets you play games over the Internet as if your computer were on a local network. Basically any network game can be played and with updates being posted at least once a month for new games, you'll not be out of the action long.

I registered Kali in the DOS days for $20.00 and it's still $20.00 a couple of years later. Setting up the DOS client was kind of difficult back then, but playing Kali nowadays is nothing like that. Just connect to your ISP, launch Kali, click on a server and find a game.

Kali has over 200,000 registered users and some six hundred servers across the world. There's a server for almost every game and lots of different places to play. Trying to find your friends in this sea of servers is pretty easy. Thanks to Kali's IRC like commands and built-in Kali email.

Don't want to join the masses? Kali also has a dedicated server mode, so you can host a Kali server of your own and have your friends connect to your IP and start playing. With password protection, your game can't get anymore private.

If you just want to try out Kali, you can for about fifteen minutes without entering a serial number. Just be kind to other players and tell them your not registered, so they don't start playing only to have you drop out.

I've played Descent, Diablo, Starcraft, MechWarrior Mercs, Red Alert, Quake II, Warcraft II, and others that I've forgotten over the years. The games for the most part have been great, there is some lag with lots of players, but that's with any Internet game, and depends more on your Internet connection than on your hardware and software.

Another great feature. Want to play a game with a custom map or level, but no one wants to go to a web or ftp site to get it? Just send it to him or her from Kali's built in file transfer protocol, it even supports multiple downloads.

Kali also keeps track of a player's connection quality by pinging and displaying the average of those pings. There are many features to Kali and if you're into gaming over the Internet, then $20.00 is a pretty sound investment. Since all game developers can't have their own hosting servers for games. Delgado's nickname on Kali is SoupKitchen and mostly plays on the MechNet Server #499.
